Sleep?!

I just took a nap. Why you ask? This weekend was youth conference weekend at church. What does that mean? Let me share with you.

First off we were tricked into being youth conference parents; they asked us if we would have girls come spend the night. Sure how hard would that be? We later found out being the conference parents meant you need to be at all the activities with the kids. After MUCH grumbling on my part (and boy did I grumble) we got all ready. Well as ready as we could be. We were given 8 girls. Yep eight. I got as many air mattress as I could and as many munchies as I could.

DH spent the day at the beach with them on Thursday. Then it was off for swimming. Got settled for the night. Well that was after a 1:00 am food run. Friday I spent the day with them, speakers lunch and service project. It was major fun. We were suppose to go to dinner at the church, but I quickly got sucked into can we please order pizza? Can we take extra time to get ready for the dance? Ok at this point write sucker on my face, I caved. Pizza dinner, I was smart and I ordered extra for the late night snack. Off to the dance. Those kids are so funny, Dh and I laughed so hard. Just the funny thing and goofy dancing that they do. The boys all made sure the girls were dancing. I think what was even more impressive is that all and I mean all, the girls were dressed modestly. I love to see the youth having fun and being righteous in their decisions.

After the dance we had plans. We knew that we needed to have plans to keep them busy. We had some spiritual thoughts and small lesson and gave them all a little keepsake to take with them. It is always a joy to see the kids express their joy of knowing that Jesus Christ knows and loves them. They stand for truth and righteousness. They stand apart from other youth of today because of different choices that they make. It makes me so happy to see them.

Ok so onto what we were off to do. We had in the "rule" book, no TPing. Lights off at midnight. We can say the lights were off (in the garage) and we did not T.P. Nope we broke out the post it notes. Did you know that 48 post it note pads can completely cover a car? Yep completely. Did you know that 8 girls can very quietly peel them off and stick them in neat little rows all over the car? Did you know that a red car can turn into a yellow car in about 30 minutes? The even better part was that they were excited that their leaders would take them to do it. We figured it was safer to pile them in the car together and take them off to their harmless fun and be with them to make sure that all was well. In this process we got dubbed as cool fun parents. They would consult us about different questions and ask if they could do things. There is one thing I made them promise for all the fun, that no matter what time we went to bed we would be there at 8 am the next day when it all started. We got there a 8:12 and WERE THE FIRST ONES THERE! That was a pretty awful trick. LOL.

We had a ball. Really we did. After all the not wanting to do it, I sure hope they ask us again next year. I am not so sure that will happen, we were crazy. But hey, I did learn how to post it note a car!!!!
