A three day weekend. Yeah! I love three day weekends. Usually Memorial Day marks the beginning of swim season for us. We usually start with warming up the pool and BBQing and having friends over. This year is a little different. For a number of reasons.
Reason Number #1. Being that Dad was just here, we had a conversation about did it bother him that the Vietnam Vets were treated so differently when they got home versus the Gulf war vets. His response was no, he was glad that they are not going through what they went through. He said that was so rough. You go serve your country in a confusing place and come home and NO ONE wants to here about it. I don't think my dad has ever said much about being out there. He did mention that he sat in a tree for a week and he HATES MRE's. That whole conversation just made me look at things a bit differently. I hope that no vet ever has to face the things that the Vietnam vets had to face.
Reason #2 Dang it we are still not in the house. The gas may not be turned back on yet. We asked the contractor to get it up ASAP because we are missing the pool. It is still strange to drive over to your house and get into your pool.
Reason #3 Because of reason #2 we are not having our normal kick off the summer BBQ.
We did go over to a friends house because their little one was having a pool party. So the girls had lots of fun. After that we all piling into the car to go meet Aleksei and his parents for dinner. Dang that kid is growing. He is soooo stinking cute. You look at him now and you just can not imagine all the things that he has gone through. He is SEVEN months old now.
Emily is in town and I picked her up yesterday. She is hanging out this week and watching the girls later in the week while Dh and I get away for the weekend to go to a wedding. I am very excited to get away. I am also very excited that she is watching the girls because I will not have to worry about them. Got to love completely trusting the babysitter. :)
So what is your weekend fun?
